How to Pack a Travel Toilet Spray Kit for Any Trip

Quick answer

Pack a travel toilet spray kit by choosing pocket-sized sprays, sealing them in a leakproof bag, and keeping one bottle in your personal item for the flight and hotel. The Wanderlust On the Go Set makes this simple because each sprayer is pocket-sized.

Steps to pack your travel toilet spray kit

1. Choose pocket-sized sprays for the trip: Pick travel-size bottles rather than full-size ones. The Wanderlust On the Go Set is designed for on-the-go use with pocket-sized sprayers. Check the bottle label for the volume and compare it with your airline's carry-on liquid limit before you pack. If you cannot confirm the volume fits your airline's limit, place the spray in your checked bag instead.
2. Seal each sprayer in a leakproof bag: Place each bottle inside a small resealable plastic bag or a dedicated leakproof pouch, then press out excess air. A common mistake is packing a sprayer loose next to clothing; a bottle that shifts or leaks can ruin a trip. Double-check that the cap is fully closed and the bag is sealed before it goes into your luggage.
3. Build a small bathroom pouch: Combine the sealed sprayer, a small cloth or tissue pack, and any other bathroom essentials in one pouch. Keep this pouch in your personal item rather than a checked bag so it is available on the plane and at the hotel. A checkpoint: if the pouch does not fit in your personal item, remove nonessential items until it does. Label the pouch so you can find it quickly in a shared bathroom or dim hotel room.
4. Pack a backup bottle for longer trips: For trips longer than a few days, add a second pocket-sized sprayer to the pouch. Keep the backup sealed and stored separately from the bottle you are using. Avoid opening the backup until the first bottle is empty or lost. Count your bottles before you leave home so you do not arrive with an empty kit.
5. Place the kit for easy access at your destination: At the hotel, unpack the pouch and place it on the bathroom counter or in a drawer near the toilet. Keep the sprayer upright if possible. A common mistake is leaving the kit buried in a suitcase, which defeats the purpose of an on-the-go bathroom odor kit. Before you leave the room each day, return the sprayer to the pouch so it does not get left behind.
